Annunziata
would like to recognize Father Glenn LeCompte for receiving the 2010 Vandebilt
Alumni of the Year Award. Fr. Glenn
graduated in 1976 from Vandebilt. On May 24, 1986, Annunziata’s own Glenn
LeCompte was ordained to the priesthood. He celebrated his first mass on the
following morning at 11:00 am and Notre Dame Seminary’s rector, Gregory Aymond
(now Archbishop Gregory Aymond) delivered the homily. Fr. Glenn had
participated in many ministries at Annunziata before being ordained. In July of
1998, Fr. Glenn, who was teaching at Notre Dame Seminary, took residence at
Annunziata. Two years later, in May of 2000, much to the disappointment of
Annunziata parishioners, he departed for an assignment at Notre Dame. In late
2007, Fr. Glenn was selected for the positions of Diocesan Director of Worship
and Diocesan Master of Ceremonies. He was recently appointed as Director of
Lumen Christi Retreat Center. He was selected for the Alumni of the Year Award
in 2010 by a designated committee for this award because he has distinguished
himself in his career, his community service, and his example as a Catholic
Christian. He remains very active at the school.
Fr. Glenn’s vocation
has meant so much to the Diocese of Houma-Thibodaux, especially to us here at
Annunziata who can proudly call him our own.
